Knowing how much I enjoy both fashion and writing I’ve always thought that I’d combine the two…why not right!
So with my fashion merchandising major, I decided to minor in fashion media to help with achieving my future aspirations.
Dream Jobs: A Series
#1 A Fashion Writer
That being said, my ultimate goal is to become a writer for a top fashion magazine such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Allure, or Elle. In general, I am very interested in working any type of job for a magazine. I also would love to attend or work backstage during New York Fashion Week. One specific dream of mine is to get to cover an article on a NFW runway show. For now, I guess I’ll just stick to writing weekly for A-Mag here at Kent!

Now the idea to be a fashion writer is what seventeen year old me had in mind, but as I continue to learn about the range of jobs in the fashion industry, my head sometimes strays away from my original plan.
#2 A Boutique Owner
For a little more than a year now, I have had the pleasure of working at a small boutique in Sewickley, PA called Bellwether. Bellwether is such a special store that caters to all women, no matter their size or age. Norma Cheek, my boss, has truly impacted me as have the rest of the Bellwether girls. I’ve been able to not only be a stylist for customers but I’ve also gotten to decorate a storefront, steam products, label merchandise, and even model the clothing myself. As I continue to work and learn from Norma, my interest in one day opening my own boutique grows.

#3 A Model
Furthermore, my freshman year at Kent I modeled in two of FSO’s fashion shows. I then had the pleasure of modeling three different looks for the Annual Fashion Show, getting to not only be in the film but also walk the actual runway. Over the summer, as I said before, I also weekly shot content for my job at Bellwether. I got to model brands such as Amanda Uprichard and BB Dakota for our instagram reels and posts! Recently, I was also invited to a shoot featuring sustainable clothing for Regeneration here at Kent.

As I continue to put myself out there and attend model calls, the more I think about potentially pursuing something with modeling in the future.
Dreams to Reality
After I graduate college, besides opening my own boutique or writing for a magazine, I have all intentions of marrying and starting a family with my best friend and boyfriend of six years, Justin.

Additionally, I hope I also take time to travel and see all the places I’ve dreamed of visiting. I cannot wait to hopefully be able to cross some destinations off my list once I study abroad in Florence during the spring semester of my junior year in 2024.

Closing Thought’s
Where I am going now may look different to where I actually end up going in three years, and that’s okay. I think that’s why this page is much shorter than my “Where I’m From” page. My future is still being written and I am just going to keep on writing it out until my dreams become my reality.
