Where I’m Going

As a sophomore year fashion student, I don’t know quite where I’m going or what my plans after college are. Living in Europe is the end goal, hopefully sooner rather than later, but who knows what path I’ll go on to get there.

With minors in fashion media and textiles, I can only assume that’s the route I’ll be headed in, whether that be down one of the two paths or a combination.

The only thing I know for certain is that I will be studying abroad in the coming year, whether that be in Paris, London, or Florence; or maybe all three. Getting to at least one of those places gives me a starting point in Europe, whether that be making career connections or becoming familiar with a new language.

I hope to see my independence grow and evolve in the future, with in a sense of comfort in being alone but also knowing when to reach out to others. Personal balance is a goal of mine in the long term, that I hope to achieve at least before I die.

That being said, I don’t think its my time to die, and I don’t think I’ll consider it time until I’ve achieved that balance in life, and until I fell like I’ve made an impact on either myself, one individual, multiple people, or a community. I think we manifest our future with our current affirmations. Some people think my “it’s not my time to die” ideology is a little strange or off-putting, but I see it as comforting. One day I will be ready.

Until then, I hope to become a more organized student. Between taking 18 credits, working on campus, and maintaining a social life, I have a lot on my hands. Learning time management now will only help me in the future, and I can only hope that takes me somewhere good.
