Juvens Niyonzima was born in Rwanda raised in Democratic Republic of the Congo
I came to the USA in January of 2020, now it’s already been 6 years.
I would like to share my journey to the United States.
Fast forward to 2020, I came to the USA at the beginning. Life was not easy. It was January 2020, cold weather and locked down Covid had just started. Everything was new to me; the weather, food, culture, and transportation were challenging.
Along with all that I am looking to build a community that will help to solve challenges for newcomers in the USA and make immigrants and refugees feel comfortable in the USA as in their home country, a community with a legacy to help one another and make a self-sufficient like in the USA.
My mission is to provide information and tools to the young youth to make them self-sufficient and build a culture of supporting one another. Unfortunately, this could only be a vision at the time as reality hit and I had to find a job.
My first job was cleaning at the University Hospitals Cleveland Main Campus. Working my first job in a new country was difficult, but I always kept a positive attitude and focused on what I needed.
I was able to learn a variety of skills, lessons, and gained invaluable experiences which allowed me to help the community.
As now I am a community organizer I managed to help over 200 African refugees to get jobs in University hospitals Cleveland main campus.
I also managed to create a group called the University Hospitals family. This is a group of some of the people I have helped to get jobs in University Hospitals. Our main goal as most are non-English speakers is to take care of one another in the workplace (team worker), sharing job opportunity information.
I also managed to create a group of youth called Comrades that builds a peaceful and wellness living community by doing acts of love, compassion and unity.
