The dreaded question most performers face is a simple one.
Where am I going?
Is it off to Broadway, in hopes of sharing my art with thousands of viewers a day?
Or will I reside in a school somewhere, to be a drama teacher and educate?
It has taken me years to figure this out.
I spent all of high school in choir. I was in two varsity ensembles at the same time. I spent my senior year in a Veteran Service ensemble where we traveled to Veteran Assistance Hospitals to perform for those who have served us. This aspect in my life is one I decided I wanted to keep forever.
To add on to my love for performing, I spent all of high school increasing my love for theater and musicals. I auditioned for countless productions, with the top prize being Marty Maraschino in ‘Grease’. This confirmed what I wanted to do with my life. I’m meant to share entertainment with the world.
I love to create, and that goes for nearly any aspect of the arts. I love to write. I had spent my entirety of middle and high school creating my own stories and characters. I used to write essays for fun. I wanted to continue to expand my love for writing, and I knew a perfect way to tie my areas of interests together.
I chose Kent State University to pursue a Theater major with a journalism minor. I love creating in any possible way I can. I have a wonderful time balancing both of these parties.
For my career choice, I plan to pursue performing. On the side, I hope to do critic work involving theater. Performing is a job not always guaranteed booking dates, and with the time in-between, I am able to do something else I truly love. Never stop creating.
